Style inspiration: Gigi Hadid

gigi hadid

Ford model Gigi Hadid has been my inspiration recently. Mostly her NYC street style. Her love for denim and cozy-wear inspired me a lot during this cold season. She takes dressing warm and apropriately for the weather to another level and makes the cold bearable, for now.

The best of 2014

Beauty

  • Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf I bought this on holiday last summer and imediatly fell in love with this scent. At first, I was curious about the hype around this perfume but now, I understand why everyone talks about it, it smells heavely.
  • Miss Manga mascara by L'Oréal When it comes to mascara, I'm not one to try a huge variety or let myself be influenced by an add. I prefer to stick to the same thing that works for me or watch reviews online/on yoututube till I find one that's interesting and that I won't be wasting my money on. I loved this mascara even if it dried out quickly - it didn't like traveling in my suitcase..
  • Gel eyeliner Felt tip liner dries out quickly and often have a glossy finish. Gel eyeliner doesn't and is more durable. I'm a huge fan of winged liner and gel is definetly easier than liquid. But you know what they say, practice makes perfect.
  • Brow duo powder by Anastasia Beverly Hills Brows are one of my main focus on my face and this powder makes them look more defined without the drawn-on look. I love it!
  • Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay Palette wise, I've had my eyes on this one a a moment. It's pink toned eyeshadow drew me to buy it and I regret nothing. It's definetly worth the money.
Fashion

  • Leather pants Like you already know, leather in one of my favourite fabric. I like it's rough look and how you can still make it look chic when you pair it with the right pieces. To me, leather pants are a classic and a must have piece in my closet. I can't live without them.
  • Ripped jeans The grunge look/90s vibe was on trend last year and so were ripped jeans. To me, they've always been on trend and something I reached for in my everyday outfits.
  • Fedora I've always been a hat person even when I was younger. And just like back then, I have trouble finding ones that fits my small head.. struggles.
  • Mini bags They've been everywhere this past year and will be back for the next. Wether it's a Celine nano crossbody or a mini sac de jour by Saint Laurent, mini bags are a huge thing right now. Also, your shoulder/back will tank you for a lighter weight you put on them.
  • Flannels Just like the ripped jeans, flannels are back from the 90s. They can act as a jacket, button up shirt or simply tied around the waist.
Random

  • American horrow story I won't lie, I've started watching this series just because of Evan Peters.. For the moment I've only watched the first and third season but I am loving it!
  • New girl Who doesn't love Jess? If you want a good laugh, this is the one for you. She and the guys are hilarious.
  • Awkward Same as New girl, if you want to laugh, it's a good show to. Jenna's life is so funny and complicated and don't get me started with her love life.. p.s. I prefer Matty
  • Twisted I was sad to see the show has been canceled after it's first and only season. I love the mysterious and dark side of the characters.
  • The fault in our stars Book wise, it's been dificult to chose due to my book addiction. I love reading, I'm not even sorry. I've went trough this book so fast, it's insane. I loved it and will re-read it again and again just like Hazel did with An imperial afliction
  • Insurgent I've read the whole series but my favourite was Insurgent, the last one was a little boring.. I can't wait to see the film in April!
  • Vampire academy At first, I thought this movie would be bad but I surprisingly loved it. The trailer wasn't interesting and no where as good as the movie.
  • Maleficent You know me and my Disney princesses. Last year it was Frozen and this year it's Maleficent. I even watched it twice at the cinema...
  • Divergent I've shared my love for the second book of the series earlier but I also lover the movie, like a lot. I like how Tris's character is a strong, powerful girl and not helpless like in most movies. And of course, there's Tobias who had me like..!
  • If I stay A lot of people were disapointed but this movie due to it's sudden end but in my opinion, it was one of the best I've seen so far. I loved the music side of the film and Adam's band is amazing. Why are they not a real band?
Music

  • 1989 by Taylor Swift This year has been Taylor's year and my obsessoin for her doesn't stop with her music. Have you seen her cats and how well she dresses? Back to her album, this one along with her precedent - Red - are by far my favourite of Tay's. Going pop was not a bad idea for her.

  • 5 Seconds of summer by 5 Seconds of summer Despite their lack originality for their album title, 5SOS has rose to fame last year. They're no longer 'the band that opened for 1D' anymore, they're a reall, know band now.

  • My everything by Ariana Grande After releasing her single 'Problem', Ariana's career grew like crazy. And he voice is just.. ugh.

Style inspiration: Harry Styles

Style inspiration: Harry Styles

What? A guy as inspiration? Well, to me, Harry Styles is one of the most fashionable man. I never - rarely - seen him wearing something that was very out of style. (Forget his work out outfits or XFactor days) From Burberry to Saint Laurent, the Brit knows how to pull off an outfit wether it's formal - events - or causal. His love for flannel shirts and skinny jeans grew on me along with fedoras, staple boots and headband/scarves.

My everyday makeup routine

When I was younger (early teenage years), makeup used to be an addiction. And I couldn't leave the house without. I wore so much on my face, just thinking about it makes me cringe now. Everyday, I'd wear the same thick full ocverage foundation, drawn on brows (we've all been there) and a tons of black around my eyes. I was never thought how to use makeup properly - I thought a bronzer was the same as a face powder and didn't take time to remove my 'mask' properly (or not at all).

Now, years passed and I learned a lot. Wether it's tips I got from watching a beauty guru on Youtube or from my favourites models. I've discovered that I don't need that much makeup on my face. No more heavy foundation or black underneath my eyes. I also got used to my pale complexion. And stopped overplucking my eyebrows (thanks God for that one). Learning to accept yourself is helping you aply makeup better in my opinion. When you know your face, you can put the emphasis on the right places (your best features) instead of wearing a mask of makeup.

p.s. Makeup is not an obligation. Less is more.

Foundation I rarely wears foundation. I prefer BB creams. They are lighter on the skin. My favourite is the one for oily skin by Garnier. It says it's for oily skin but it works for any skin types and has decent coverage. If not, I use the liquid foundation called Eau de teint by L'Oréal. It's a water based foundation and has very light coverage.

Concealer For the under eye area, I use Rimmel's Wake me up concealer. It has an anti-fatigue effect and never looks cakey. And for any breakouts or scars, I use the Dermablend line by Vichy. These products are truly amazing. They gives a lot of coverage and can cover tattoos!

Powder I only use on powder - I've been using the same one for years - and it's the Stay matte by Rimmel

Blush I love blushes! It's one of my favourite makeup to apply. It brings back color into your face and makes you look more 'alive' even in your darkest days, lol. I prefer creams to powder blushes. They gives a better effect (looks more natural) and stays longer on the skin in my opinion. My favourites are by Topshop, Rimmel and NYX. If not, I use a dusty rose color by The Body Shop which is a powder blush.

Eyebrows Eyebrows frame the face and are one of the most important feature. Despite the big brows trend at the moment, you have to follow your natural brow shape and what suits you best. Not everyone is blessed and born with thick brows, get over it. I use the duo brow powder by Anastasia Beverly Hills. This is a more expensive product but any matte eyeshadow that matches your eyebrows will do the trick. Don't forget: eyebrows are sisters, not twins!

Eyes When it comes to eyes, I prefer a more natural look. It's either a cat flick made with a gel liner or nothing. Sometimes, when I go out, I use the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay or a Color tattoo by Maybelline blended all over the lid as a wash of color. Then, I finish off with a couple coats of the Miss manga mascara by L'Oréal

Lips As for lips, I like to change it up depending on how I feel. For a nude, I love East end snob lip liner by Rimmel. For reds, I like the matte one from Maybelline's recent collection but honestly, I have a bunch. (I'll leave a couple down below)

Brushes For brushes, I use either Real Techniques or Echotools ones and a sponge too (only for the under  eye concealer).

Today's picks: Celine pointed toe heeled booties

These boots have been on my mind since over a year now and I and still not over how beautiful they are. Their simple, sleek but sophisticated look is perfect for dressing up any outfits.

Style inspiration: Ariana Grande

airana

Ever since her new album (My Everything) Ariana has been one of my style inspiration. I've always loved her but her 'new' style has caught my attention. Laces, plaid school girl skirts, fur jackets, feminine bralette and sky-high high heels, Ariana is killing it recently. Wether it's for a prestation or a simple candid, she always looks good and well dressed.
