July favorites

BEAUTY

Revlon nail polish in Fearless Orange-y reds have been one of my favourite colour lately. I love hot it stand out against monochromatic outfits and it's summer, why not pick out our brightest shades?

Sunny bronzer by NYC This month I've been skipping blush and switched to bronzer. I'm  not a huge fan of bronzer - I prefer blush over bronzer - but it's summer so I thought it was apropriate. I'm not someone who tans easily - I burn instead - and faking it is the best way to not look like a vampire/ghost. I apply it with a multitasking brush by Real Techniques on my temples/hairline, cheeks/cheekbones and jawline for an overall bronzed look.

Skincare After years of try and errors, I think I finally found the right products for my skin. I've struggled with strong acne all my teenage years and my skin always used to look bad. Leaving the house without makeup on was a big no. I read thousands of blogs and reviews on products who should help my skin but never had satisfying results. Recently, I came back to using the Charcoal deep pore cleanser by Bioré. Charcoal works wonders on my skin. It keeps my skin very fresh and clean. I also use the Glycolic pads from Nip+Fab. The latters are the best 'toner' I've used. I thought they were useless at first but after a couple weeks of using them daily, I noticed my skin was really clear and the scarings are less visible. Along these two products, I use the One minute heating mask from the charcoal range by Bioré. It's one of my favourite, I always have a packet in stock!

Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf perfume Despite having a never ending perfume collection, I always go back to the five same. Among them, I count Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf. It's floral scent isn't sickly floral unlike most flower-scented fragrances and is perfect for the summertime. The sad thing is that I have to use it sparely because of it's high price and it's unavailability in my city.

FASHION

Belts I use belt as acessories instead of their usual use. All my life I've tried keeping my jeans up with the help of a belt and it does not work. I prefer using them as acessories to jazz up a plain outfit or sinple give shape to a sleek piece.

Ankle booties I found these beauties at H&M about a week ago - why buying boots when it's summer? I know. I have tons of black boots but none has an heel. Personally, I think everyone should own a pair of heeled booties. They're so practical and easy to style.

RANDOM

Blogging/Writing I made a decision this month. I went back to my blog's early start and was a little disapointed in myself not only for the content but for the repetitive use of words and small vocabulary. I could go for hours, criticizing my blog but I'm not here to rant about that. It might take time to adjust but I'm working harder on my posts and trying to have more interesting content. Talking about outfits and how I'd style some items is fun but not as informative as I'd want to. Fashion is something I'm passionate about and you can't really see that when reading my blog.

Gossip Girl All my teenage years have been about this show. It's perfect for me. It holds many subjects like fashion, rich kids, wild parties, friendship, betrayal, mistery and love, of course. It was a main part of my life at this time and I kinda grew up watching the show. I reconised myself in some of the characters and that's a big reason I love this show so much. I felt like these characters understood how I felt inside and liked the same things as me - contrary to the majority of people in my school. Back to the show, I highly recomend watching it if you like drama, cute boys and New York!

PEOPLE

Karlie Kloss Miss Kloss is one of my favorite model/person. I admire everything she does. From her modeling career, her baking career (Karlie's kookies), fitness. Karlie has achieve a lot of amazing things this year like being accepted to NYU and more recently: her arrival on Youtube (Klossy). I'm super excited to see her video variety.

MUSIC

Ghost - Halsey

After hearing everyone takling/obsessing over Halsey, I decided to give her an hear. I was completly clueless about her when I first entered her name in the search bar. The first song I heard was Hold me Down and imediatly loved it. Then, I moved on to Ghost and New Americana. I'm in love with her style, vibe and sound. It's diferent than what I'm used to (my playlists mainly consists of Taylor Swift) but not in a bad way. I love to open my mind to new genre and make discoveries. I am definetly buying her album Badland at the end of aughst and it most likely will make it to my monthly favorites, kepp an eyes up for that.

Photograph - Ed Sheeran

I bought Ed Sheeran's latest album this month and after one listen, I asked myself 'why didn't I bought this sooner?'.The record is as good as his first one but the sound definetly diferent. It takes diferent direction in the lyrics and beat/voice. Multiply is less heavy in thoughts but still hold some strong lyrics. I love the way Ed writes and say things. He reminds me a lot of a man version of Taylor Swift. Both have strong, powerful lyrics and know how to use their voice on diferent levels to make the songs/album more interesting for the ears. I love how the songs also explores diferent subjects. Love/heartbreaks seems to be the only subject in the music industry but with Ed, there's a diversity. My favourite song is probably Tenerife Sea, I love this song. 10/10 Ed! Can't wait for the next one.

Style inspiration: Jenny Humphrey

During my teenage years, I grew up watching Gossip Girl. This show was everything to me. The set up, the characters, the fashion.. and the drama. It was my favourite show and I could identify myself trough the characters, mainly Blair Waldorf and Jenny Humphrey. From season one to six, I saw myself in the blonde Brooklyn girl. She was so me. Both on the inside and outside. Jenny's style made a major turn in the show. At it's early start she was very Blair-like and then, as season two progressed, she changed and switched to a more grungy style while still being stylish.

Here's a few of Jenny's looks!

Summer's brights

It's summer, let's take out our brightest colors! Like I told you in a previous nail post, I am very, very picky when it comes to nail polish. Chosing a color can takes hours. It's a nightmare. This summer, instead of always wearing red hues, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try out diferent, bright shades.

During spring, I fell in love with blues. Darker to lighter hues, my collection has expended. While browsing trough my interminable collection, I tried some berry tones and orange-y reds. My favourite is Fearless by Revlon. It holds the perfect amount of orange and red in it. Plus, it's called like one of T. Swift's albums.

Style inspiration: Behati Prinsloo

I love how casual and edgy Behati's style is. It's very unusual for models to be edgy and I like that about her. She's always wearing flannels, leather jackets, band tees, Docs or other type of boyish/edgy footwear. Behati is rarely wearing heels in the streets. She definetly stands out from the model lot.

June favourites

Beauty

Berry smooth nail polish by Avon I'm so picky when it comes to anil polish. I can pass hours painting and removing varnish, literally. (Not the healthiest foryour nails, I know.) This month, I've been loving berries. I like wearing brighter color in summer but not too in-your-face kind of colors. Berries are perfect for that. I also really like how they look against monochrome pieces.

Glycolic fix pads by Nip+Fab When I heard Kylie Jenner was going to be the new face of the brand, I knew I had to check it out. I was a little septical when I read it was an anti-aging brand. Why would a seventeen year old girl pair with an anti-aging brand? It makes no sense! After a few searches and look at the website, I came to an conclusion that not everything is for mature skin. I was expecting the brand to be a lot more expensive and was pleasently surprised. I decided to try the glycolic fix pads because Kylie recomended them an said she loved them a lot. When I first tried the pads, I wasn't impressed. They seemed to be doing nothing on my skin but now that a month has passed, I relaised I had a lot less breakouts throughout the month and that my skin was looking really good. I also like that there's sixty pads in the tub, they least at least two months.

Blending brush by Avon I was septical when I ordered these makeup brushes from Avon (Avon have a lot of mixed reviews about their products, you really have to try then to find out). I've always been told that brushes needed to be expensive to be great quality. Wrong! I got the Pro eyeliner brush which is double sided and the Pro crease brush. Out of the two, my favourite is the last one. Crease/blending brushes are what's lacking in my collection - they're so dificult to find at the drugstore. I've been loving and using this one all month. The bristles are a lot softer than I expected and actually works for blending - contrarly to other cheap brushes. Get them while they're on sale!

Fashion

Western style belts I never use belts for it's original purpose - it simple does not work on me. Instead, I use them as fashion accessories. After seeing these bulky, western style belts on bloggers this month, I've developped a love for them. My favourite way to style them is with simple jeans. They easily make a statement.

Mini bag with chain and zips Rebeca Minkoff's bags have been on my mind since a moment already. My favourite designs are the mini MAC and mini MAB. As I was browsing online, I came accross a very similar on from Call it spring for less than a quarter of the price. I was lucky they had it in my local store. I've been wearing it everyday since I bought it, it's just so easy to style and pair with anything, I love it.

People

Eleanor Calder Like I said in my previous post, one of my favourite style inspiration launched a blog. I went nuts when I saw the news on twitter/instagram and rished to the website, haha. I was eager.. I'm so proud of her for achieving something like that. You can see by reading the posts that she and Max worked hard on their blog. Good job El!

Random

Code F On MTV, there's a show called Girl code and this is my country's version of the show. It premiere this month for the summer and I watch it daily. Every subjects is so acurate and hilarious. I'm not a fan of humor shows but this, it's too funny. Definetly one of my favourite thing to watch during the summer.

Pretty little liars The sixth season of PLL started this month and the premiere had my falling off my chair. I still have to catch up with the show (the premiere is the only episode I've watched from the season.. bad me!) before it's too late and I get mixed up.

Teen Wolf Just like PLL, Teen Wolf's new season started this month. It's my favourite show and I can't contain my excitement for the rest of the season. So many questions popped in my head while watching the first two episodes. Not to mention I almost lost it when the spoke about Alison.. Come back to the show Crystal! Make Scalison happen again.

The mortal instrument I got back into reading this series - why did I even stopped? I read the fourth book in less than a week.. oops. And it's 500 pages (I think). I'm not a fast reader, I'm surprised it happened. Be on the lookout for my review on Goodread soon! p.s. Follow me there!

Music

Flashlight - Bethany Mota (cover)

Wow, I am on the floor, literally. 'Need you right now' was so auto-tuned and not my cup of tea but this one isn't at all. I knew Bethany had talent but I'm still impressed. I can't wait to see more of this in the future! Go Beth!

Say something - A Great Big World ft Christina Aguilera

I remember this song playing in the If I Stay movie trailer last summer/fall. This month, I've been loving making playlists to listen to while I read. It's a little distracting and don't help me focus at all but.. whatever!

When the darkness comes - Colbie Caillat

Warrior by Beth Crowley

This song is, in fact, inspired by the TMI book series. Everytime I hear this song, every words fits so well with the books. I can literaly hear Clary say those things to other characters.

Good for you - Selena Gomez ft A$AP Rocky

Selena finaly released a new song and I am loving it. My playlist was lacking of slower beats and this perfect fills in the space. I like the mix between pop signers and rappers. First Taylor and then Selena.

top 5 street style // June

I can't get a month without an outfit of miss Jenner on my favourite's list. I was surprised to see her wearing this outfit, I wasn't expecting this. Can we talk about the shoes. Her lace up Aquazzura definetly are one of my favourite pair of shoes she owns.

Just like Gigi, Vanessa Hudgens' NYC street style is brilliant. I love how versatile and daring she is. Vanessa isn't affraid of tring new trends. The one I chose is very casual and simple - my life theme. The unbuttoned white shirt is what makes the look diferent from your basic everyday look. It looks undone but weather apropriate. I love the layered necklace and shirt paired together, it's very tumblr-y.

This month, Eleanor Calder (finally) launched her blog. One of my favourite outfits was this white on white one. It's a classic (the trouser) look mixed with a modern (the sleeveless polo) touch. I love these type of outfits.

My second favouirte from The Trend Pear was definetly this one which is a complete oposite from the other one. This one is more casual and contain one ofmy favourite throwback piece: overalls. Eleanor have beed seen wearing overals in the past and she always does it right.

Overall, Gigi's look seems very prepared but it's actually very easy to re-create. It's only a white tee paired with leather pants, Add killer shoes, fun shades and a long jacket/waistcoat and voila. I love the simplicity in this outfit. It's a perfect example of looking easily put together.
